a closet update,

Recently on my thrifting adventures I have seemed to be very lucky. Finding a slur of good items. I went on a vacation a few weeks ago to Ventura & Santa Barbra with my mom and brother. Of course the first thing me and my mom did was stop by all of our shops. It's a tradition of sorts, you could say. Here's a few things I picked up.
boots boots boots. I'm simply obsessed with the doc marten style chocolate ones, my mom saw them and new I'd love them. The tan cowboy ones I have still yet to sport, I'm waiting for the perfect flimsy black dress to wear them with. They were such a steal, 20$ and they fit like a glove.
It's always good to have plenty of leather bags, and I do. Probably too many actually.
1. This white verastile top was love at first site, you can criss cross the straps in the front or wear them down as seen above. 2. Now I know I won't be able to wear it for a good long while, living in southern california and all, but it was 5$ and it reminds me so much of Kate Hudson's character in Almost Famous. I couldn't leave it behind. 3. Adorable crochet colorful top, it reminds me of woodstock every time I put it on.oh and this little wonder happens to be one of my favorite buys.I've been calling it the Andy Warhol graffiti dress, because if you stare at the print for a good long while I swear I see edies face. Haha, maybe i'm just a bit off but none the less it's a great find. The tag simply reads " I'm ". Hm, mysterious.

ps. sorry for the not so good quailty photos, all I had was my iphone.

beauty on my brain: chloe sevigny

The current beauty on my brain is known for her edgy takes on fashion, and risky acting rolls. I've loved Chloe sense I saw her in Boys Don't Cry, her roles in American Physco and Party Monster proved that she had the acting chops to hold her ground in the dog eat dog world otherwise known as hollywood. I was recently looking through an old issue of Elle that featured a four page spread on miss sevigny, this spiked my interest in her once again. Her mix of floral prints and men's wear jackets got me completely inspired. So cheers to you Chole, you're the beauty on my brain.

an irregular thought,

So as I was searching through my closet this morning, looking for something old I had forgotten about to spice up my monday outfit. I stumbled upon a pair of square toed flats that I never even remembered purchasing. They were brand new, not a scratch or scuff on the sole. The shoes were made by a company called Irregular Choice. I quickly sat down and typed the name into my google search bar.

Behold the beauty I discovered.

The company is in the process of launching a new website and line. I can't wait!
If you'd like to purchase some of the lovely shoes try here

90's baby & bad ass ladies,

Being born into the world in the early 90's
, I was too young to truly appreciate the anti-fashion movement that the generation brought at the time. But now that I've grown, I'm truly proud to be a representative of the dirty decade. Though the idea of loving a a time that stood against everything I have adored about fashion probably seems a bit preposterous, but I do. I would not consider my style as dirty and grimy as some of my favorite 90's icons, I like to add some flower child, hippie spice to the typical over sized flannels and ripped jeans look. But enough about me, here are some runway looks i stumbled upon.

Joan Jett and Debbie Harry have always been sources of inspiration for me, though even more so recently. The power and strength that both women have is probably what I admire about them most. The whole bad ass, rock n' roll image has always been one I have appreciated. How could I not? I mean just look at them.

The tight leather, all the studs, ahh it's love.
The bottom left picture is Joan and Cheri Currie along with other band member of The Runaways.

I've been listening to more Nirvana then usual, and in return have been sporting lots of stripes. Oh, kurt.

I dig all three of these girls take on the grunge style. I wish I lived in the city where I could simply walk down the street and get inspiration for my daily outfits. Only a few more months till that wish comes true.
